Within the scope of projects subsidised with the EEA and Norway Grants, a cooperating partner from one of the so-called donor countries needs to be acquired (Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein). The aim of the partnership is reinforcing the bilateral cooperation between the donor countries and Poland (the so-called beneficiary country).
In case of the project entitled “Redevelopment of the monumental facility of the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice” we have established a partnership with a Norwegian university, i.e. the Grieg Academy - Institute of Music, operating within the Department of Human Sciences of the University in Bergen.
The Grieg Academy - Institute of Music conducts didactic activities within the scope of playing instruments, with emphasis put on early music, traditional music and jazz. Permanent cooperation with cultural institutions in Bergen results in intense involvement in the cultural life of the city, e.g. by participation in the Nattjazz Festival - one of the largest jazz events in Northern Europe. Furthermore, the Institute also conducts research activities related to musicology and music therapy.
